Tension: what the body can tell us

 |  Mahmoud Saleh

The body remembers a lot. Tension can be a sign that it is time to listen more closely.

Tension rarely appears out of nowhere. It often has to do with everyday life, posture, stress, one-sided strain or inner pressure. The body collects traces of what we do every day - and sometimes of what we endure for too long.

A massage does not provide a medical diagnosis. But it can help you perceive the body more clearly again. Where does something feel tight? Which side is more tense? Does the neck become heavy after a full week? Does the back respond after long hours of sitting?

Such observations are valuable. They show that wellbeing is not created only on the massage table. It is also connected to sleep, movement, breaks, working posture and inner calm.

Massage cannot remove tension from life altogether. But it can create a moment in which the body is heard. It invites us to treat ourselves with more awareness again.

Perhaps tension does not only say: something hurts here. Perhaps it also says: look again. Give me space. Take me seriously.
